In the movie The Living Daylights (1987), James Bond listens to a Philips DC954 car radio that has been modified by Q to receive police scanner frequencies.
James Bond (Timothy Dalton) convinces Kara Milovy (Maryam D'Abo) to leave Bratislava and go to Vienna to be reunited with her boyfriend, General Koskov (Jeroen Krabbé). Bond is able to smuggle Kara and her cello out of Bratislava in his Aston Martin V8 Vantage. While on route to the border, Kara notices the strange behavior of the car radio: "You've picked up the police band". Bond replies: "There must be an atmospheric anomaly!"
Kara "They're looking for a foreign car. A man and a woman."
Bond "And a cello!"
The MCC Power Philips DC954 car radio was produced by Philips Germany and was a top-of-the-line car radio at the time. The DC954 features an autoreverse cassette player with Music Search Systen (finds songs by stopping at the start of each song in forward or rewind mode), digital tuner, MCC (moder micro-computer electronics to automatically re-tune to the best transmitter frequency), 5-digit Philips Security Code protection, pre-set buttons, traffic info, Dolby, mono/stereo, loudness button.
The Philips DC954 is currently very hard to find
